ROLLER COMPACTORS

The basic concept of roll compation is to force fine powders between two counter rotating rolls. As the volume decreases through the region of maximum pressure, the material is formed into a solid compact or sheet.

Dry granulation produces granules that flow freely without the addition of a liquid solution and can therefore, be viewed as a “pure” process. Tablet compression is enhanced as the particles are not bonded together by any additives.
